Love Like The Galaxy: Part 2 EP 18-19

Tencent just has announced that the remaining Love Like The Galaxy episodes are for sale now and will be available for viewing from tomorrow 18 August, 7PM, if you buy their bundle. Okay, the drama fans are literally going crazy, some are elated that their wish came true, some are sad that it is ending. There’s also going to be an online interaction session where the drama leads will be watching together with the fans who bought the remaining episodes. WeTV (Tencent’s overseas counterpart) is also allowing the same, but not the session with the drama leads probably.

Alright, back to the story – we discovered a lot more to what happened at Gu Cheng (Gu City) and also Ling Buyi’s identity mystery.

EP 18: We finally solved the case of bribery and betrayal at TongNiu Town, Lou Ben (Lou Yao’s older brother) is the culprit.

And before Lou Ben held ShaoShang hostage, he gave her the map that he has drawn of ancient mainland and sprouted a lot of “wisdom” words to her, and then he killed himself.

ShaoShang thinking back to what he had said, deduced that her father General Cheng must be at the origin of where the massive fortune came from, and she asked for Ling Buyi’s horse and rushed out to look for her father. Ling Buyi followed too.

EP 19: Five days later, General Cheng is at home, Lady Cheng is taking care of him. General Cheng shared that the villagers took care of him despite he was injured. (At least he’s back safe and sound!)

Lou Ben’s deeds has caused the Lou family to be stripped of the official title in court, and so they are leaving the capital. ShaoShang and Ling Buyi came and sent them off.

Lou Yao bid farewell with ShaoShang and claimed that his happiest times were at Hua Town (where they were together) and he wished he had never met ShaoShang this life. And then he left.

Ling Buyi came up and said that Lou Ben’s wife got banished to her hometown and on the way there, she committed suicide.

ShaoShang asked Ling Buyi for a quiet and happy life and not one with power and greed. Ling Buyi looked at her, avoided answering her and asked her to visit his mother Huo JunHua (or Lady Ling as she married Ling Yi) together. (There’s such an ominous feeling at this scene, like the director is prepping us for the sad scenes to come.)

At Huo JunHua’s residence, she had prepared almond cakes for Ling Buyi because they are his favourites when he was a kid and she also called him Ah Li like he was still a kid. Ling Buyi ate the almond cakes.

ShaoShang and Cui Uncle went outside for a chat, leaving the mother and son to have their moments. And this is where we find out about Ling Buyi’s childhood as Cui shared.

Around the same period Ling Buyi was born by Huo JunHua, her brother Huo Chong also had a son and both of them grew up to be looking alike but personalities totally different. One is playful and loves the outdoors, the other is quiet and likes to study. Ling Buyi loves almond cakes while Huo Wushang is allergic to them, but they get along very well despite all these. Huo JunHua also liked to dress them up looking the same as well, to let the fathers guess who is who.

And then we are let on this little intricate detail, to protect Ling Buyi’s ill health from young (as he was born pre-mature), Huo Chong’s wife gave her child’s name Buyi to Ling Buyi whereas Huo JunHua gave her child’s name Wushang to Huo Wushang, as Huo Chong has many children all born healthy so they want to pass this fortune over to Ling family.

(Confused? So basically, if they did not exchange names, Ling’s son is called Ling Wu Shang and Huo’s son is called Huo Bu Yi. But since they exchanged names at birth, it is what we see now: Ling Bu Yi and Huo Wu Shang. And Huo Wushang has passed away at Gu City. *shudders*)

On the way back, in the horse carriage, ShaoShang discovered that Ling Buyi is having a fever and having red spots on his neck and hands.

Ling Buyi claims that it’s the bugs bitting them and asked to lean on ShaoShang to rest.

ShaoShang looked deep in thought.

That night, ShaoShang thought about the similarities that Ling Buyi has with Huo Wushang. And when the Queen visited her, she asked the Queen to share Ling Buyi’s growing up years. And whatever the Queen described, quiet, keeps to oneself, all sounds like Huo WuShang but the Queen attributed it Ling Buyi’s encounter at Gu City.

Ling Buyi that very evening, without waiting to recover from the red spots fully, rushed to get Peng Kun from the court’s jail and interrogated him at his own jail facility. He wants the truth to what happened at Gu City and tortured Peng Kun for it.

That’s it.

Update on 18 August morning: the drama character ranking chart is out and usually by 9.30am China time the results are out for previous day performance.

Wu Lei as Ling Buyi tops the chart at #1 and Cheng ShaoShang at #4. Both breaking their personal best score.

Wu Lei’s fans keeping the score sheet – 27th time to top the chart, 18th time to break 9 and breaking his best score to 9.15.

I’m just amazed at the perseverance of fan groups in general in China. They go all out to keep the heat up for their idol and Wu Lei’s fans are not the most aggressive I’ve seen, and yet we have such good numbers so it shows that this drama is really getting recognized by many.

Web drama ranking: Love Like The Galaxy at #1.
