Please Feel At Ease Mr. Ling

Please Feel At Ease Mr. Ling <一不小心捡到爱>

Premieres on 20 May, the Chinese Valentine’s Day

It’s the third Zhao Lusi drama I’m catching and I’m loving her in this modern rom-com drama where she shines without a doubt. I caught wind of this drama because it flew to no.1 for internet dramas (网剧) sometime this week 25 May and so I decided to check it out.

Let’s start with the title, it’s Chinese title literally says ‘Accidentally picked up Love’, a vast difference to its official English title. Oh well.

The drama’s first episode starts with Ling Yue (starring Liu Te) being the typical demanding CEO and Gu An Xin (starring Zhao Lusi) a hardworking dispatch delivering parcels. Typical rom-com setup. Then comes the accident, she knocked into him, goes to the hospital, he temporarily lost his memory of who he is, he had no place to go and goes to live with her etc. all the drama tropes! Which I think is all fine, not overly done yet.

It got slightly better from episode 2 once the setup is done and the couple started living together. The interactions are cute and they learn about each other. Despite forgetting who he is, he still exhibits the traits of being a chaebol – staying at home he almost wrecked the house so she told him to go out and hang out. Being outside, he’s also a nuisance haha.

I don’t think the drama storyline is anything new but Zhao Lusi manages to bring something sparkly in her performance as a frugal hardworking girl who seemed to have some dark past and she also makes every (maybe almost) male lead she’s acted with that amazing CP chemistry. You forget who was her previous male lead.

Currently at ep 12 if you are a VIP member of Youku or wait for Sunday to come for the new episodes.
