She And Her Perfect husband < 爱的二八定律> stars Yang Mi and Xu Kai. And it parachutes on us without notice on 14 Nov – I had to check Tencent and WeTV to make sure that the drama is indeed streaming! Because it had previously announced an airing date and then pulled out the day or a few days before.

Yang Mi is Qin Shi, a successful lawyer who has no time for dating and needs a “husband” to get into a prestigious law firm. Xu Kai is Yang Hua, a stay-at-home bum, playing the stock markets, pressured by his mom to go to blind dates, and then get married. It’s a common drama setup but it is Yang Mi and Xu Kai acting lovey and falling in love, so I will give it a try.

After chasing it for a week, it’s not too bad but the side story of Qin Shi’s brother and his wife’s antics is not gelling with the main story plot, like I could skip it and still get the OTP progress. The characters at the law firm are slightly more interesting, Qin Shi’s rival at the firm wants to know if Qin Shi and Yang Hua are a real deal which we all know they will be soon.

And then Qin Shi’s ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend is her assistant at the law firm, confused enough? Qin Shi only found out by chance when bumping into them at the supermarket. I’m not so into the back-story of why she broke up with Tao JunHui the ex but it seemed like she was burned in that relationship.

Last but not least, the most interesting character would be Yang Hua’s mom, the actress playing this character is really good at it. Whenever she thinks of a way to get the son to get married, leave Qin Shi or coax the son to come home, and then Yang Hua tackling her moves with Qin Shi’s help – this got to be the highlight. Ha!
