The Coming One《明日之子》from Tencent is a singing reality competition show focusing on finding new idols/singers/performers with musical talents. It is currently at Season Five now.
The Coming One’s first season premiered on 10 June 2017 and ended on 23 Sep 2017, where Mao Buyi 毛不易 emerged as its champion.
Because of Mao Buyi’s song Give You Give Me 《给你给我》from the Forever And Ever OST, I read his profile and was surprised to find out that he debuted from a singing reality show. Here, I am clipping some Youtube clips where Mao Buyi perform his original songs in The Coming One. He performed a total of 14 songs with melody and lyrics all written by him.
The first three episodes have the judges Yang Mi (EP 1), Joker Xue (EP 2) and Hua Chenyu (EP 3) choosing their team members, and Mao Bu Yi was in Joker Xue’s team in the 2nd episode.
And so here we go. (With some song names being literal translated by me)
EP 2: Mao Buyi performed his original song: <如果有一天我变得很有钱> If One Day I Become Rich, and successfully gets selected into Joker Xue’s team.
EP 5: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <感觉自己是巨星> Feeling Like A Celebrity
EP 7: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <消愁> Drowning Sorrows, winning Joker Xue’s praises on his lyrics. Note: Drowning Sorrows is probably Mao Buyi’s most famous song.
EP 8: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <像我這樣的人> Someone like me
EP 9: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <一程山路> A journey of mountain trail
EP 10: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <二零三> Two zero three
EP 11: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <借> Borrow
EP 12: Mao Buyi performed four songs but I am just clipping his original song with Victor Ma: <南一道街/NorthHollywood> SouthOne AvenueStreet/NorthHollywood, where <南一道街> SouthOne AvenueStreet is by Mao Buyi and NorthHollywood is by Victor Ma. Victor Ma goes on to win 2nd place in the competition.
EP 13: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <芬芳一生> Fragrance This Life, as a duet with singer Liu Xijun.
EP 14: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <深夜一角> Late Night In A Corner, and Joker Xue reminded him of what he said in an interview at the very beginning about winning the show, Lol!
EP 15: Mao Buyi performs his original song: <意料之中> As Expected & <盛夏> Flourishing Summer, (but am just clipping Flourishing Summer below where he started with a very heartfelt speech).
