Back in his house, Zhousheng Chen revealed that when his father left the Zhou family years ago in order to be with his (birth) mother, some of his father’s friends supported his father so now he wants to do the same. While discussing all these with Mei Xing, Zhou Wenxin came because Step-Mother wanted Zhousheng Chen to come watch the opera. Zhousheng Chen got dragged by Wenxin to the pavilion.
That evening, Zhousheng Chen goes to the factory to find out more about the pollution.
Back to the pavillion, a group of friends chattering with Second Uncle (Zhousheng Xing) reminisced about the past – they recalled how Second Uncle used to fetch Step-Mother (Qin Wan) in high school daily. (Does Second Uncle and Step-Mother used to have a thing for each other?)
Mei Xing went to the factory to look for Zhousheng Chen and realised that Zhousheng Chen got locked. Zhousheng Chen had already called Uncle Zhao for help.
Uncle Zhao called Zhou Wenchuan to help instead as he has been drinking. Zhou Wenchuan just acted like the call didn’t happened and continued with the opera. Hours passed, Zhou Wenxin asked for help in front of Step-Mother and that’s when Zhou Wenchuan started to make his way to the factory. Wenchuan got confronted by Wenxin for not saving Zhousheng Chen but he denied it.
Zhou Wenchuan got Zhousheng Chen out. Mei Xing has been there, accompanying Zhousheng Chen all this while. Mei Xing commented that Wenchuan is actually very suitable for running businesses but his mindset is not right.
In Shanghai, Zhousheng Chen goes to see Shi Yi at her house, waking Hong Xiaoyu up. Shi Yi dragged Zhousheng Chen to her room to have a chat and invited him to sit down but her camisole is on the chair. Embarrassed, she kept her clothes quickly and then chatted with Zhousheng Chen.
Zhousheng Chen wants to bring Shi Yi to the wedding house because it’s under renovation and if there is anything she does not like, it is still in time to change. Shi Yi is in no hurry and offered Zhousheng Chen breakfast if he hasn’t had any. Zhousheng Chen asked for the Honey Stars cereal again.
Our Chen-Shi couple finally got to the wedding house in Shanghai which is left behind by Zhousheng Chen’s father. It’s a huge old mansion.
In the study room, there are four types of calligraphy writing/typography for Shi Yi to choose for the engagement invitation. Shi Yi rattled on about the each style’s origin and writer and finally chose the 4th one (from Tang dynasty). (Judging from the back and forth here, our couple is very well-learnt with Chinese literature and history. It is typical for Zhousheng Chen to know because he comes from a traditional family that seemed to be influential for generations already.)
Shortly, Wang Xiaoman dropped by the house as the engagement outfits are ready for Shi Yi to have a fitting. While trying out the outfits, Xiaoman revealed that when it’s Shi Yi’s wedding, Wang Grandmother would be the one making and the last she did, was for Zhousheng Chen’s mother.
Shi Yi thought that since Zhousheng Chen is 28 years old so Wang grandmother must have made the last wedding dress 28 years ago but Xiaoman said it’s actually 25 years ago. Shi Yi looked doubtful. (We all know that it was for the step-mother, but Shi Yi doesn’t know it yet.)
Shi Yi picked a cheongsum to try on, and excitedly went downstairs to let Zhousheng Chen have a look too.
Zhou Wenchuan and Tong Jiaren came by to greet Shi Yi since Wenchuan has not met Shi Yi. Lin-Shu asked the group to stay for dinner since they hardly have a chance to gather.
At dinner (four of them started eating first: Shi Yi, Xiaoman, Wenchuan and Jiaren), Shi Yi found out that Tong Jiaren is Zhousheng Chen’s colleague and alumni. Zhou Wenchuan mentioned that Zhousheng Chen’s IQ is 190 and attended university at 17 years old and got his PH.D at 19 years old. Xiaoman only cared to talk to Shi Yi.
Zhousheng Chen joined the group later and heard the part about Shi Yi knowing acupuncture points. Shi Yi wanted to try on Zhousheng Chen but he is afraid it would tire Shi Yi out at night after her work.
One dinner, so many glances, Wenchuan keeps looking at Xiaoman. Jiaren keeps staring at Zhousheng Chen, envious of how considerate he is with Shi Yi. Wenchuan caught Jiaren’s stares too. As if she couldn’t bear it, Tong Jiaren made an excuse and left the dinner in a rush. And Zhousheng Chen only cared for Shi Yi, making sure that she eats.
After dinner, we have a flashback of One and Only where a memory of writing Shanglin Fu came up in Shi Yi’s mind. (Second time that the drama made it like Shi Yi’s memory.) At present, Shi Yi is holding onto a little thing that Zhousheng Chen had wrote in his leisure time and Shi Yi wanted to keep it though Zhousheng Chen said that he can write it properly for her again.
Zhousheng Chen visited Shi Yi’s parents to discuss the engagement party that is happening the next Saturday. Shi Yi’s mom asked about the details and Zhousheng Chen shared that it’s currently 16 tables of guests and it will be held it at home. Shi Yi’s parents looked at each other, not believing their ears. (Same here, what kind of home can hold 160 guests!? I guess the ancestral home in Zhenjiang is that big.)
Shi Yi’s parents, upon hearing the scale, said they will have a table of guests instead of just the two of them attending so as not to look like they are lacking in manners. Thereafter, Shi Yi’s father invited Zhousheng Chen for a game of chess and Zhousheng Chen is in a dilemna whether to win or lose the game to his future father-in-law.
Shi Yi’s besties came, wanting to spend the night with her before her engagement party over the weekend. Shi Yi is anxious thinking about meeting Step-mother again and even more anxious that she’s going to stay with Zhousheng Chen together tomorrow night. Hong Xiaoyu asked which base are they at and made a kissing face but Shi Yi just shook her head. Haha. Mei Lin asked who is the one having issues here and Xiaoyu thinks that it must be Zhousheng Chen. When Shi Yi defended him, Mei LIn said that both of them have issues. Lol!
The next day, Lin-Fei goes to fetch Shi Yi at her house. Shi Yi has to go for one more recording in the morning before setting off for Zhenjiang.

At the recording studio, Wang Yingdong came personally to record Shi Yi’s part as he is aware that Shi Yi needs to go off urgently. And here we go, Shi Yi is recording the song 《心动》(Heartbeat) (sang by Bai Lu), and then Shi Yi has all these flashbacks of how she met Zhousheng Chen and their interactions.
Zhousheng Chen is waiting for Shi Yi at her office, to pick her up. Shi Yi found out that she has kept him waiting but he assured her that his habit of arriving 15 minutes earlier can double for his fiancee.
Zhou Wenxin is sending Mei Xing off and met Zhou Wenfang and Tang Xiaofu. Wenxin decided to join them for a walk down the mountain. They bumped into Zhousheng Chen and Shi YI and Zhousheng Chen worried over Wenxin’s health asked her to take his car back while he and Shi Yi will just walk to the ancestral home.
Zhousheng Chen looked at Shi Yi in her current speed and heels, says that mountain path is not easy and took her hand for the long walk up the mountain.
Here’s when Shi Yi asked about his family and we get the details. Apparently when Zhousheng Chen’s father passed away, his second uncle changed surname to Zhousheng in order to take over the Zhou family business because the business needed to carry on. Zhousheng Xing’s only son follow suit to take on the Zhousheng surname thus named Zhousheng Ren.
Zhou Wenchuan and Zhou Wenxin are twins, Zhousheng Chen asked Shi Yi if she could tell. Shi Yi said a little but Wenchuan looked more mature.
Our couple arrived in time to try the dishes for the engagement party and the rest joined them too, making it livelier.
And then Step-Mother’s butler came and passed a message to the group that tonight is the last night for the opera and everyone to attend except for Shi Yi since Shi Yi just arrived and should rest. This makes it very obvious that she is not accepting Shi Yi.
Wang Xiaoman came by with the engagement outfits for Shi Yi and witnessed Tong Jiaren listening in the convo between Tang Xiaofu and Zhou Wenfang. The two girls gossiped about Tong Jiaren almost marrying Zhousheng Chen. Tong Jiaren went over to confront them. Tang Xiaofu argued back that she should’ve stopped them right from the beginning and not wait to listen it all before stopping them. Tong Jiaren looked so mad.
That night, Zhousheng Chen and Shi Yi are in his room, looking at his pet crabs. He had adopted the crabs outside the hotel that Shi Yi was staying in Xi’an. (So this is the reason why Zhousheng Chen stopped having crabs, haha!)
Lian-Sui came in at this moment to bring in the comforter for the night and prepping the bed.
This made Zhousheng Chen nervous, he glanced at the bed a few times before he announced, “I’m going to the room beside, I’m sleeping there.”
Shi Yi just made a sound, “Ahh?” And then another, “Ahh…”, looking a tiny disappointed.
Zhousheng Chen then walked to the door and told Shi Yi that if she needs anything, just to yell for him and then he closed the door.
He seemed to have forgotten something and knocked the door again. Shi Yi said to enter. Zhousheng Chen had forgotten to take his crabs. Haha. So he went in, glanced at the bed again, before taking the crabs away and closed the door behind him.
In his own room, he called Shi Yi just to wish her goodnight. Shi Yi took the opportunity to ask him if he bought all the skincare in the bathroom for her. (It’s the same as what she has in her own home.) Zhousheng Chen said he saw it once and remembered it.
Shi Yi teased him that he is showing off his memory skills again. And then she asked why are we on the phone when you are just in the next room. She told him to just open the door.
They met outside the room and then we have Lian-Sui dashed upstairs informing Zhousheng Chen that he is needed. So Zhousheng Chen told Shi Yi to rest while he goes to take a look.
Zhousheng Chen met Tong Jiaren near the pavilion and we found out that Tong Jiaren had pushed Tang Xiaofu. The entire night they have been talking about her, comparing her with Shi Yi thus making Jiaren agitated and upset. Zhousheng Ren came and checked on the situation too, he is concerned that Shi Yi should not hear all these, if not, she won’t want to marry Zhousheng Chen.
Shi Yi wanted to go out to find Zhousheng Chen but got stopped by Lian-Sui. Bored, she went to Zhousheng Chen’s room and took the crabs with her for the night.
It looks like things are finally settled. Zhousheng Chen wanted to wait 30 minutes before going back because Shi Yi might have just slept and not sound enough. He does not want to disturb her. Zhousheng Ren therefore chatted with Zhousheng Chen, asking him why did he come back when he’s just fine doing his research in Germany. Zhousheng Chen explained that the Zhou family business’s focus has been using money to earn money but China production has not been at its greatest and if the Zhou business can help, he wants to change the focus back to China production. Therefore, he came back. (Isn’t this like Little Nan Chen Prince, just wanting to help the people.)
True enough, when Zhousheng Chen went back, Shi Yi is fast asleep. Zhousheng Chen slowly tip-toed to his room.
The next morning, Zhousheng Chen went to the family breakfast alone and Step-Mother isn’t very happy about it. Zhousheng Chen did not even inform Shi Yi about it, making his stand very firm that Shi Yi does not need to attend.
Zhou Wenchuan came late for the breakfast and it doesn’t help that his reason is not the same as Tong Jiaren, making Step-Mother fume. She just told the two sons to go with her to the hospital later and then stomped off.
Shi Yi woke up and is enjoying a breakfast that Zhousheng Chen prepared for her. Zhou Wenxin came and wants to bring Shi Yi somewhere that Zhousheng Chen had instructed. Zhousheng Chen had said that it’s a place that Shi Yi would like.
(藏书楼 literally means Collection Book Building, or Collection of Books Building. In the olden days, there’s no such thing called library where people can borrow books, only Royals, nobles or the influential can learn to read thus all the more impressive that the Zhou family has one in their ancestral home. Zhou Wenxin brought Shi Yi to the Zhou family Books Building as Shi Yi had asked Zhousheng Chen about it in Xi’an. Shi Yi tours the building with great interest.
