Not an avid fan of variety shows but I may change my mind this year.
Heart Signal 3 Chinese version <心动的信号3>
“Heart Signal 3” aired on Tencent from 8 Sep to 3 Nov 2020, every Tuesday. The show panelists or they called themselves “Heart Detective” are Qi Wei, Hans Zhang, Yang Chaoyue, Alex Uncle, Ding Yuxi and the host is Du Haitao. Total of 10 episodes. Location is Chengdu, China.
It started with introducing six participants (non-celebrities) one-by-one at the Heart Signal House – Didi (m), Xixi (f), Cuocuo (m), Zhongzhong (f), Ah Xing (m) and Qin Xin (f). For the first few days, they aren’t allowed to reveal their age, occupation and their personal contact details. All of them still go about their daily lives during the day but at night, they all come home to eat, interact, and sleep, and then leave the house in the morning.
I was more interested in the panelist’s banter, analysis of each person’s intention/likes – the panelists’ conversations are so funny and priceless. At the end of each day, they have to guess who each participant would message, but the recipient of the message does not know who sent it. It remains mostly anonymous right to the end. The show also organises dates for the couples, the key highlight was towards the end (ep 7-8), the female participants posted a picture to let the male participants choose the picture. You wouldn’t know who posted the picture so you might not end up with who you like on the date.
Every time a Heart Detective guesses correctly, they get a Heart stone/gem so the detective with the most gems win. By the time it gets to Ep 9, omg, it is heart-pounding waiting to see who each participant would choose to confess their heart with. And then it’s heart-breaking to see the boys and girls being rejected. It’s not easy at all.
Overall, I enjoyed the show very much, a highly recommended watch.
